About Me

I have worked with children and families for over 20 years. Ever since my first job as a teen helper in a children’s nursery, I have prioritized finding ways of supporting youth and their families. After getting an undergraduate degree in business, I earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and spent years as an elementary school teacher, teaching 2nd and 3rd grades. I shifted to working as an instructional coach before becoming a children’s librarian.

Wanting to support children and families on an even deeper level, I pursued another Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University and completed a post-graduate certification in Child and Adolescent Therapy. Throughout my career, I have worked alongside children of all ages, teens, parents, and families, providing guidance, encouragement, and therapeutic support.

As a white, cisgender, and able-bodied provider, I recognize the privilege I carry in a society that often affirms identities like mine. I also understand that, because of systemic inequities, many individuals and families with marginalized identities may struggle to find providers who truly understand or honor their experiences. I am committed to ongoing learning, supervision, and consultation so I can support clients of all identities with respect and care. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and welcome children, teens, and families of all gender identities and sexual orientations. I also identify as fat, and I ensure that my practice is weight-inclusive, affirming, and grounded in respect for each person’s unique body and lived experience. When I am not working, I can be found spending time with my family and friends. I am an avid reader, a horror movie aficionado, a watercolor painter, and I enjoy singing along with musicals in my car.   My goal is to offer a space where all children, teens, parents, and families feel seen, supported, and valued exactly as they are.

My Approach

At the heart of my work is a simple but powerful goal: to help children, teens, and families build the confidence, skills, and resilience they need to thrive.

I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing when given the right environment. All people deserve to feel seen, valued, and supported. I use a combination of play therapy, talk therapy, art, games, sandtray, literature, and other tools to meet children, teens, and adults where they are. These approaches give them creative and natural ways to express themselves, process emotions, and build coping skills.

My work is guided by the principles of the pioneering family therapist, Virginia Satir, who emphasized self-esteem, healthy communication, and strong family connections. Supporting self-worth is at the core of everything I do, because when we feel good about ourselves, we are better equipped to thrive.
